Rally Sunday

Sunday, September 8. A new program year begins. Adult Forum returns at 9:05 in the Lounge. The Senior Choir will sing their first service since June, meeting at 9:15 to warm up. Church School classes for PreK – 5th grade will start up with the 10:00 a.m. service. And the Kona Ice truck with be here at 11:00 for a special treat for all.

Formation Sunday

September 15. G.A.P. begins (see below); and during the 10:00 a.m. service we will bless the backpacks of any one who bring theirs to church that Sunday. We will also bless the school supplies this congregation has so generously donated for Caniff Liberty Academy.

St. James Book Group

Begins Sunday, September 15 after Coffee Hour. This year, we will be reading My Grandfather’s Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge and Belonging by Rachel Naomi Remen. This is a collection of stories that help us remember the power of kindness and the joy of life. We meet on the third Sunday of every month after coffee hour until around 1:00 in the Rite-13 classroom upstairs (the bright green room). Our first meeting this fall will be Sunday, September 15. We will read the introduction and the first part, “Receiving Your Blessings.”

G.A.P. (God’s Awesome People)

Begins Sunday, September 15 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. G.A.P., our Middle School and High School youth group, meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. We begin the program year with a special celebration in the Upper Rooms (that’s the three rooms on the 3rd floor of the church). There will be food, games, and amazing activities for all. In case you missed it G.A.P. stands for God’s Awesome People—which is who we strive to be…always!

Parent Meeting and Family Dinner

Sunday, September 15, 4:00-5:30 p.m. The members of The Bridge and the Confirmation (CnC) Class will prepare dinner for their families after G.A.P. that Sunday. The parents will meet together with Fr. Josh, Pastor Chris, and the other teachers to discuss the components of this year’s classes including expectations and responsibilities. Please plan to be in attendance.

A Day to Give Back

Saturday, September 28. Food packing with Rise Against Hunger will again highlight our annual Day to Give Back after its enormous popularity last year. Thanks to the great interest, we are planning to pack 15,000 meals this year, and we need your help. Look for the sign-up sheet soon, and save the date for this fun and meaningful Outreach project.
